Biography
David Mathúna (b.1991, Cork, IE) is a multidisciplinary artist currently based in Berlin. Exploring generative and improvised processes, David’s practice spans video, lighting, sound design, data visualisation and installation, with a specific focus on live performance.
Influenced by relational aesthetics, by social environments and the interaction of people within them, he is drawn to create works which are immersive, performative, interactive, and which seek to explore the oscillatory relationships between the individual and the collective, finding in shared experience a means by which to bring about a new awareness of held assumptions.
David completed a BA in Fine Art at the Crawford College of Art & Design in 2014 and has since worked professionally as a stage designer, content creator, VJ, musician, lighting designer, sound engineer and music video producer. He is a lighting operator resident at RSO.Berlin, teaches interaction design at BIMM University and produces and performs music under the name Sorica.
